Cricket is Coming to Beijing !

spring 2008

CricketWant to be the next Ricky Ponting, Freddie Flintoff or Sachin Tendulkar ? Then sign up for the brand new Sports Beijing Cricket programme – one of the very first junior cricket programmes available in Beijing.
Under the expert tuition of our Coaches we will be running both a “Kwikcricket” style game for our younger players and a regular version of the game for our older cricketers. Players of all abilities are welcome.
Kwikcricket (also known in Australia as ‘Have a Go Cricket’) is one of the great success stories of junior cricket over the past few years providing the first steps for children to experience one of the most popular summer sports in the world.  The program incorporates high participation with skill development and modified games to provide a safe learning environment and fun experience for all involved.

Our older children however will be ‘putting on the pads’ and facing the red ball in the traditional way learning all the basic techniques of batting, bowling and fielding.

Emphasis in each version will be both on learning how to play the game correctly in all of its various aspects as well as having lots of fun. Training will take place at the new purpose built cricket pitch located at the Dulwich College Legend Garden campus.

It is hoped that towards the end of the season that we can form a team to play some competitive matches against other local teams.

Parent volunteers are actively welcomed to the programme encouraged to help out our coaches organize the various drills.

So it doesn’t matter if you come from one of the ‘Test’ playing nations frustrated at the lack of cricket in Beijing or if you come from another country, curious to find out what cricket is all about, everyone is welcome to join。
