Sports Beijing Floor Ball

spring 2008

Sports Beijing Floor Ball

Floor Ball is an exciting indoor form of hockey that’s easy to learn and fun to play.   Players wear athletic court shoes (tennis shoes), and use a “bandy stick” to move a “wiffle ball” up and down a court to take shots on goal.  This program introduces the skills needed through specific drills and game time.   Players will be provided with a jersey, but need to provide their own shorts and bandy stick. Please indicate on your registration form if you need a bandy stick, and we will prepare an order, inform you of the cost and get the equipment before the start of the season. The cost of an introductory bandy stick is RMB 300.

Coaches and Coordinators required!   If you know Floor Ball and like working with kids, please indicate your willingness to help on the sign up form or contact the Sports Beijing office!

Advanced Floor Ball Program

Sports Beijing organized an advanced floor ball team with facility support from the International School of Beijing and coaching support from the Beijing Ducks, a mens floor ball club in Beijing before.  The Bliksems met on weekends for practice and played several matches against another local Beijing high school team. With floor ball expanding in the high schools and universities throughout Beijing we will endeavor to find additional teams to play this season.  The advanced team is open to players 13 and above, though younger skilled player will be considered.  All players will try out and depending on the player turnout, coaching resources, and available gym space some of the players may not make the team.  These players will be encouraged to join the regular floor ball program.
