Cub Scouts

Cub Scouts of America is open to boys of all
nationalities (except Chinese Nationals) between the
ages of 6 and 11 (U.S. system grades 1-5).
Boys are allocated to "Dens" (small groups) according
to their age. Dens generally meet after school at the
homes of Den Leaders (parent volunteers). Boys are
taught leadership, camping, and life skills aimed at
preparing them for the Boy Scouts of America program.
In addition to the weekly Den meetings, various Pack
activities are held each month, which are "family
friendly" activities which parents and siblings are
encouraged to attend. Participation in the Pack
activities earns each Scout a patch for his patch vest.
Highlights of the year will include the Great Wall Hike,
Pinewood Derby, Space Derby, Service Projects, a visit
to the Beijing Aircraft Museum, and the Family
Weekend Campout.
Beijing Pack 3944 is led by parent volunteers, and it is
expected that one or both parents of each Cub Scout
will participate in some way - for instance as a Den
Leader, co-leader, coordinating a Pack activity or joining
the Pack Committee.
Registration for 2008/9 will be held from 18:00 to 20:00 on Tuesday 2nd September in the High
School Cafeteria at the International School of Beijing. Additional registrations may also be held at
WAB and Dulwich College – please check with these schools for details. The registration fee for the
school year is RMB 900. Uniform costs: shirt, hat, neckerchief, badge vest, handbook are
additional. Uniforms and other supplies will be available at the registration event.
