Sports Beijing "Wall's" Youth Soccer

spring 2008

Sports Beijing is grateful to for their support of this program.

Want to become the next Ronaldinho? Then come along each weekend and learn to play the ‘Beautiful Game’ – undoubtedly the most popular sport in the world…soccer is a universal  game everyone can play!!!  Girls and boys between the ages of 4 and 14 and their families meet every Spring weekend to have fun, improve their soccer skills and learn the values of organisation, discipline and team spirit in competitive game situations.  Children are grouped by age onto teams each typically having 8 to 12 players.  Efforts are made to balance teams so that each team has players with a range of abilities and are competitive with each other. Most teams are mixed boys and girls but there is a Girls  League for those girls born 1997 to 1994 who would like to play separately. Every session begins with 30 minutes of skill development drills, prepared and supervised by our very own qualified coaches Alan Hough and Daniel Soderstrom.  The rest of the time is used for matches between the teams on a rotating basis. At the younger age groups, and certainly at the pre-soccer level, the emphasis is on fun rather than serious competition.  Older age-groups play in an organised league with matches officiated by qualified referees. The Youth Soccer League can only function with the help of parent volunteers. Every team needs at least two or more Parent Coaches and each age group needs an Age group coordinator.

Ages: Open to children born in the years 1994 - 2004 (children must have been born on or before December 31st 2004).

Dates: Saturday April 12, Sunday April 20, Saturdays April 26, May 3, 10, 17, then, Sunday May 25 then Saturday May 31, June 7, June 14.

VOLUNTEER AS A COACH: Every team needs at least 2 or more volunteer parent coaches.  The more coaches we have, the better experience for all the players.  Coaching tips from the preseason coaching clinic, weekly support from Alan and Daniel on the pitch, and access to a library of soccer drills, makes coaching a team easy, fun, and very rewarding.
VOLUNTEER AS AN AGE GROUP COORDINATOR: Every age group needs at least one dedicated volunteer parent to be the Age Group Coordinator.  Age Group Coordinators assign players to teams within their age division before the season starts, help keep things organized at the pitch and manage communications with coaches and parents.
Use the Sports Sign-Up Form to Volunteer, Call the SBJ Office, or visit www.sportsbj.com for more information.
The more parent volunteers that are involved the better your child’s soccer experience will be!  Make a difference and use the sport signup form to volunteer!
Coaches Clinic: Sun. Apr 6th  from 13.00 to 15.30  Get Involved, Have Fun…Volunteer to Help.
