Competitive Team Tennis Program

Class Name List for Spring 2008 Competitive Tennis (updated from Coach Johnee Website)

This program is for advanced players and intermediate players who have already developed a consistent overhead serve and can volley the ball.  Players are taught physical conditioning techniques and receive advanced tennis instruction to improve their shot making ability and hone their court sense.  In addition, match-play within SBJ teams is arranged and we endeavor to arrange at least 3 matches against local area tennis teams of similar skill level. Each competitive team will have 5 to 8 players of similar ability.  During the first class Coach Johnee Kop will assess the level of all registered players. Following this class each player will be assigned to a team.  If the coach determines that a player is not ready yet to join this program, the player will be encouraged to move to the intermediate coaching program for more training to strengthen their fundamental skills and the difference in fees will be refunded to the player.  If a player decides to leave the competitive program and not join the coaching program after the first session, they will be refunded the fee less RMB 100.  Spaces in this program may be limited and placement will be by ability.

Sports Beijing Mini -Tennis Program

Mini-Tennis is for beginner tennis players aged 4 to about 8 who have an interest in the game, but have trouble on a full size tennis court consistently hitting regulation tennis balls. To play mini-tennis players use a child-sized mini tennis racquet to hit a “bigger, softer” mini-tennis ball on a badminton size court that has a lower net.  These features of the game allow beginning players to make more consistent contact with the ball and get a sense of tennis faster than on a regulation tennis court. The course focuses on teaching children the fundamentals of tennis while having fun.  Players provide own racquet. Racquets can be ordered in advance for RMB 200 and will be available before first class.  If you need a racquet please indicate this on the sign-up form.
